Last weekend, we had a little all-girls steamboat to start off winter season at Sarah's crib. I've been going there quite often now hmm.
Anyways back to steamboat, or hotpot; that's what the Australians call it here. We ate soo much and it was pretty funny how we just kept on gobbling down the food although we had already reached the limit for a satisfied stomach. I think it's just human nature to eat whatever that looks good in front of you. This would mean gluttony is a natural thing in human beings.
(Sorry for this GAY line of interruption but I CAN FREAKING HEAR MY INDONESIAN HOUSEMATE TALKING IN HER ANNOYING INDONESIAN LINGO WHICH IS REALLY GETTING ON MY NERVES AS SHE JUST HAS TO SHOUT OUT LOUD WHATEVER SHE IS TALKING ABOUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER IT'S NEARLY 1AM AND SHE'S TALKING LIKE THE LOUDEST MOTHER IN THE WORLD GIMME A BREAK)
Good to let out some frustration. I might just delete that line tomorrow.
Anyways, back to steamboat yet again, Amanda made the base for the soup which was fantabulous. The tom yam soup she made comprised of several types of tom yam pastes which made the soup really authentic, just not spicy enough. She even brought lemon for us to squeeze to get the tom yam soup sour. Seriously, the little squirts of lemon juice make a big difference in the taste of tom yam.
Lisha bought loads of fish cakes/ fish tofus, beef balls, beef slices, dumplings, sausages and all sorts of other stuff to dunk into the hotpot. It was really fun just having 4 of us girls sitting around the table yacking away while gobbling down hot food in winter. I enjoyed the beef slices
most and we went "shabu shabu" while dipping the beef into the soup haha. Man I think I will head to Little Lamb at Russell Street one more time before I fly back to Malaysia in less than two weeks.
Hotpot pictures !
Hahah Manda and the lovely beef slices. When we were finally done with the food, we played mah jong. Aunties, much. But it was good fun though I felt a little guilty for not studying at all the whole Saturday but it was just good to get away from the books for a while. I hadn't played mah jong in ages, more specific, since highschool. Sarah and I were the amatures that night at the table but I kinda picked up the game and won a couple of rounds towards the end of the night although Lisha and Amanda were the pros knowing all the rules for the game.
I brought grapes from some market in Carnegie too which were so cheap. AUD1 for the packet and the girls were delighted to hear about the grapes I had in the fridge heh heh.
We called it the night at what, 3am? hahah seriously aunties playing mah jong late into the night.
Check out the paper with the chinese writings. They were written by Manda for me to refer to while playing mah jong hahah sucks to be a banana sometimes. I kinda made the pace of the game slower as I had to refer to the paper when I got those tiles with such writings.Attended Jo's church the next morning. Been attending quite frequent now although I do not show any interest in mixing with the congregation or community there which is not really a good thing but at the moment, I just don't see myself mixing with the community there but really I attend the service for some time with God and the praise and worship sessions. People tell me I need a Christian community to mix with but I don't know, I like hanging out with my non-Christian friends here in Melbourne. I realised this since I arrived in Melbourne, and also since my studies away from home in KL, that my Christian community back in Ipoh was a really secured one; easy to mix with and stuff but away from Ipoh, it's quite different. In fact, its really different. Hmm. Talk about this some other time.
I am also done with my third paper today :D
Last paper would be next Friday, the day before I fly home to Malaysia...
Oh how I wait for that day but in the mean time, I am taking every opportunity to enjoy as much Australian dairy products as possible. Like today, I finished my Blue Ribbon Vanilla buttercream ice cream tub and also ate Cadbury Triple Chocolate ice cream which am now left with maybe 5 scoops in the tub? This calls for some ice cream restocking.
Or maybe ice-cream control?
